Cash Matters » Blog Archive » Can Women Drivers Get Lower-Cost Car ...
Insurance is one of the steepest costs of running an automobile, often even exceeding the costs of petrol, taxes, and maintainance. This is particularly true for more immature and more unpractised car owners, who can well find that their annual insurance premiums add up to the actual value of their motorcar, even for a introductory policy.
If you're a woman auto driver, however, you might be able to take advantage of a limited type of policy which features less expensive premiums: women driver car insurance. What does this entail?
Well, the insurance industry is grounded on quantifying risk. The insurance firm computes how much the average insuree is going to make in claims over the life of the policy, and adjusts the premiums high enough to handle this average figure and turn a profit. To do this they need to see which type of clients are apt to be the most pricey, and which ones present the lowest risk.
As you'd probably guess, brand-new male drivers are the most liable to be involved in road incidents, and so their premiums are often sky-high. Women are provably less likely to be involved in serious accidents, and so their claims will not cost as much to pay.
In the past, car drivers with lower risk estimates such as women were utilized to push down the premiums of more risky drivers, but more recently policies aimed squarely at women drivers have become available, offering less expensive insurance premiums as this subsidization isn't necessary.
The sum you can save will vary depending on the model and price of your automobile, along with the other usual factors such as how far is driven every year, but if you're a lady driver it could pay to check out one of the many specialist female underwriters to see how much you could push your premiums down by.
